We have been trying to solve a family mystery for many years now. My great-grandparents immigrated to the United States in the early 1900's from Belgium. At that time, many people from Belgium immigrated to Southwestern Pennsylvania for Coal Mining. In fact, the town that I grew up in is called Charleroi, after the city in Belgium. My great-grandfather, Guillaume Jugghen was from Liege. His wife, Lucy Claes (Claes is her maiden name) was from Marlinne (according to her birth certificate). They spoke French, German and was told Flemish. Growing up, my grandparents would speak what we thought was Flemish, and they always told us it was Flemish but we later came to know that it was more of a German dialect. I am pretty sure that my great-grandparents could speak all 3 languages though. We haven't been able to find anyone else with the last name Jugghen and we have been trying to trace our Belgian ancestry for a very long time. If anyone has any information on the Jugghen family, it will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
