Thank you for your reply. We have lived in Arizona for about 37 years. My wife and I took our daughter, after she graduated from the University, on a European tour. Following the tour we took the high-speed train up to Brussels and stayed with a family, with the same last surname, in Charleroi, BE. He took us to Wasmes and we saw the house where my grandparents and father lived. It was strange walking the streets where my father grew up.
It's great that you are starting your family tree. Please feel free to look at mine. If you have an account on Ancestry.com I can grant you permission to view my tree as it is probably more up to date. Since working on my tree and researching, I've been in contact with a 4th cousin that lives in the area around Wasmes/Mons.
I enjoy communicating with you and hope to continue. To contact me direct through e-mail use: jlienard@yahoo.com
Alle hulp is welkom.
Good day Anne. my mother was also a Van Wynsberghe and sometimes spelt as Wijnsberghe. She was born in 1922 and came to Canada as a war bride. Her parents were August Van Wynsberghe and Leontina Cuelemans. I was just in Belguim at the end of May to find my roots. I do have some paper work from the clerks office in the town of s'Gravenwezel that shows the heritage of VAVA. he was one of 24 children. if you would like, i can scan some copies and send to you. N/C of course since we are all related.
there are numberous Van Wynsberghe's in the Delhi area that i have not met but my mother did when she was alive. My Cousin's daughter has started a webpage looking for family as well and she is located in Schelle, Belgiium.
Hi Terry, Thank you for your email. My grandfather Gaspard "Remi" Van Wynsberghe was born in Wevelgem, W.F. Belgium in 1900. Presently I have only 4 names of his siblings: Zelie, Martha, Prudence, and Isidor. I have a distant cousin in Belgium who is presently doing research on the Van Wynsberghe side for me. He is hoping to contact living cousins shortly. He was in Wevelgem doing research just last week. "Remi" was the only one from his family to come to Canada, all his siblings stayed in Belgium which he frequently visited. The only Van Wynsberghe here in Delhi that was related was my cousin who recently passed away, he has I believe, 5 or 6 children. Our Van Wynsberghe ancestors start with a Joannes Van Wynsberghe who married a Maria Rosa Deschamps in the 1700's. The towns or cities I have for their ancestors are: Sint-Denijs, Kooigem, Gullegem and Wevelgem. Do you think we may be related? I have taken my post off of My Heritage because my cousin in Belgium is helping with my research. Are any of the above names in your paper work from Belgium? Let me know.
