I have been looking for relatives in USA, in Chicago area.
My great-grandmother left Orava (district of Slovakia, former Austria-Hungar or Czechoslovakia), village called Polhora (or Oravska Polhora or Arva Polhora in Austria-Hungar times). She was Katarina Revaj (unfortunately I dont know birth name), she was married at home to guy with surname Revaj (or Revai, Revay). She went to US in early 1900´s. She re-married here to Polish immigrant with surname Zomer (or Somer, Zommer, Sommer - I am not sure). I am not sure if they had children, but maybe yes. After wedding she used surname of her new husband. She re-married after she found out that her former husband died.
I know only that I should have relatives near Chicago. My great-grandmother lived there.
Bith-place of my great-grandmother, my village, is located at north of Slovakia, at border with Poland. There is map
I am looking for relatives of my great grandmothers brother Waldo Wilkosz, he emigrated to USA in 1910 to Chicago or Cook where he married Eva; thay had 3 sons as my familly remains; Valter, Arthur and Otto.
This is the 1920 US Census, from www.ancestry.com. There are 3 more records for Waldo I will send. Please let me know that you got this email.
Census taker visited their home on January 12, 1920
They lived at 1515 Court Street, town of Cicero, county of Cook, state of Illinois.
Bertha was a boarder in their home, and she worked as a waitress
Waldo was an electrican at a hotel.
Both Waldo and Eva immigrateed in 1909, Eva was born in Poland. Remember that the European countries' borders and names were changing due to wars., So when they say Austria and Poland, remember they're saying this in 1920.
Their son is O (zero) months old, so he was just born.
