see my initial posting for information, found that these names could possibly be variations of Pahides as P in greek is R in english.
Rula or Roula
Socreates would be her fathers name, do not really know that Julie is Rula or Roula in greek.
Looking for the PAHIDES family:
Looking for the Pahides family..my Aunt Jacqueline is looking for her family that she has never met. She is not out to gain anything just the connection. Just to meet her family. Her half sisters name is Rula (julie??) Pahides, she believes her Fathers name was Socreates Pahides. My Aunts mothers name was Mary Minerva Bowers. She knows they resided in the Pennsylvania. Philadelphia area, United States. She was approached many years ago by an unknown woman who asked her for her name, the woman had a young girl with her who looked exactly like my Aunt. When my Aunt told the unknown woman her name the woman left and my Aunt never heard from nor saw this person ever again.Even if there were a promised marriage between my Aunts Father and someone else this should not have been a reason to never allow my Aunt access to her family. We all need to know where we come from and our familys history and maybe any genetic health issues. Rula (Julie in greek??) would be about 55 today. Please if anyone knows of this family contact me as soon as possible Thank You for your time and patience Sincerely Lisa A Cincotti
Hi. Looking for any info on Robert George Weir born Sligo Ireland 1828. It is thought that he left for the States serving as a Doctor. He was the son of Robert Lewis Weir and Hannah Phibbs Weir of Sligo Ireland.
Information on him is so vague it would be great to find something
LOOKING FOR ANY INFORMATION I CAN FIND OUT ABOUT MY GREAT GRANDMOTHER DAISY STAPLES/COOK MARRIED TO GEORGE WILLIAMS. RECIDED IN COLUMBIA OHIO. SHE HAD ONE DAUGHTER SARAH BORDERS WHOM DEPARTED HER LIFE AS WELL
I'm Polish and I'm looking for my family which went to USA many years ago. My great-great-grandmother's name was Marianna Bieńkowska (this is surname after marriage, I don't know what was her maiden name). Her siblings and parents went to USA and only she remained in Poland. One of her sisters probably married Skowroński in USA and they had two daughters at least. I know this from photos which they sent to my great-grandmother's sister - Marianna Karpińska (nee Bieńkowska). They also sent a lot of things from USA, for example, a doll. The photos depict these daughters. One of the pictures depicts nurses in the hospital. There is Elżbieta among them. The other picture depicts young girl – Anna Ludwika. She is 9 years old. The photos were taken in 1947 or shortly after it. In short, I'm looking for people who know something about the fate of my predecessors. Texts on the back of the photos are:
Anna Ludwika Skowrońska – my youngest daughter. She is 9 years old.
This is my daughter Elżbieta, she left school at the hospital on 15th February 1947. She is my second daughter. She is 21 years old.
The texts are in Polish and they are not written correctly (something like this: I is my daughter Elżbieta). I attach these photos. On the photo with nurses there is an arrow which shows Elżbieta. The other photo shows young Anna Ludwika. I also have the photo of Marianna Karpińska. If you know something abou them, please contact me. I woud be very grateful. I hope that my English is understandable :)
One suggestion would be to search through Ellis Island immigration data to find out where they were heading when they came to the US. Do you know what state they settled in? What city? Anything you can see about the name of the hospital where the photo was taken?
My mother's side of the family came from Galicia, and I've had very good luck using the Bukowsko triangle genealogy site with help from people on both sides of the Atlantic. Maybe there are Americans looking for their Polish ancestors and you just have to find a way to connect with them. Good luck!
