I am willing to do look ups for you. I am a member of Random Acts of Genealogy Kindness so I do not charge for my time but only charge you for transportation, copying and postage if needed
Have been trying to research my Great great Grandmother but get a 'need to update Java' window. It appears that my version is actually a later version. Am running Mac os 10.7. The Heretage site recommends using Java 10.4. Help please!! Thanks
Everyone please note some people when transfering and entering files are mixing these names up and they are going through this database and through our smart matches I just spent an hour fixing some of this please becareful I have asked some of the people to verify what they have so they dont get to much more mixed up. Thanks Everyone.
I am having big problems with my 'family tree builder' -
It is freezing- and the other day when I opened it, all my tree had been separated - by that I mean, each individual was there, but not connected to anyone, just alone on the tree - I tried restarting, importing other gedcoms, but the same thing kept happening. It freezes when I attempt to save the project - when I attempt to check for updates it freezes
I downloaded version 6 and again all those things happened.
So I uninstalled the whole thing and redownloaded and installed ver 6 but again the builder is freezing, not saving - when I choose NOT to publish it freezes, when I try to do just about anything it freezes and anything I may have added is no longer there when I go back - update checker freezes
Is the Heritage help team around???
I am still experiencing serious problems with my downloaded tree program - family builder - It continually freezes when I attempt to save anything I add -
I uninstalled my previous version, downloaded the newer v.6 and installed it - the problems still exist
Just thought I'd let those who have been watching the FMP series know about the final episode on tonight.
In this week's episode Edward Coode, Nathalia Cross and Michael Frith uncover surprising information that connects their ancestors to the Mordaunt Divorce Scandal.
I have to admit that I hadn't heard of this before, but now having researched it a little, it makes for a fascinating piece of history. You can check out the trailer here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVjd9...layer_embedded
After having no Smart Matches show up for one branch of my ancestor tree (last name McCabe), I tried the search engine for Family Websites found through the Community tab. Hundreds of websites named McCabe appeared, but I need a strategy for sorting through them. Is there a way to tell the size of the site and if they are Premium members (like the crown icons in Smart Matches)? Most of the sites are at least Mixed with security settings, so I cannot access any information to see if they will be useful. The date created is shown, but that is of little use other than indicating which sites are too new to have much research.
If you could go back in time and ask your ancestors questions, what would you want to know about them? You can be as specific as you want in regards to particular ancestors or if you'd ask all your ancestors the same general questions.
I, for example, would ask one of my great-great-great grandmothers what it was like to be convicted as a witch and how did she end up breaking out of prison and disappearing. Or my great-grandfather why he left Germany? And I'd most definitely ask all of my ancestors what they were passionate about.
